Some Events at The Burnside 2008

February 9 - March 11, 2008
Fascinating Synchronicity

An exhibition of antique Costume from the Irene Barnes International Collection and contemporary textile.

During this Textile and Costume exhibition the wonderfully knowledgeable Irene Barnes, a selection of whose collection we will be featuring this year, has very kindly agreed to do some teaching, demonstrating and talking about the costumes, designs, refurbishments and their history.

For example; On Saturday 16th February there will be a Tambouring workshop.

And on Sunday 2nd March which is also Mothering Sunday, there will be a talk and demonstration on the design and necessity of undergarments for some of the dresses. A celebratory afternoon tea will be served.

There will also be workshops painting on textile, working with transfers and making tassels, etc.

Spaces are limited, so please book early by phone (01770 303 888), e mail or in the gallery, to avoid disappointment.
