As the paper says: Raymond Murray’s exhibition The Rough With The Smooth has caused some excitement at Gallimaufry Gallery, Blairmore with good sales and much interest in his two styles of work, his bold brush strokes and pointillism. His work, which reflects the dockside scenes of Greenock and the landscapes of the Clyde, can be viewed at the gallery until next Wednesday 17th Aug. If you have not yet experienced Raymond’s paintings, then the show is well worth a trip. A rapid change over on Wednesday night will produce a totally different aspect on Thursday to be ready for the preview on Friday evening 19th August of “Six by Six” exhibition.
View Showcase This is a show unique to Gallimaufry, which they have run for three years now, where six local artists each produce six works in a similar framing format. This gives a degree of uniformity to an otherwise quite mixed show and allows the gallery to present a cohesive exhibition for artists with contrasting styles and varying techniques. The Six by Six artists this year are Marion-M de’Ath, Barbro Hosea, Jean Marshall, Alistair Lawson, Guy Fallimar and Jim Johnstone ... View Showcase And as if the opening of a new exhibition in the village on Saturday 20th is not enough, Gallimaufry have also organized the Art and Craft Fair in the village hall next door to the gallery. Having started 5 years ago as a single day event, this has for the previous two years become a complete weekend Fair. Numerous artists and crafters demonstrate their talents and visitors can watch many works of art develop from conception through to the finished article. This year the programme is very varied with metalwork, pottery, upholstery, felt work, candlewicking, jewellery and glass work included in the craft section. Artists involved in the weekend have exciting ideas for demonstrations. Contact the gallery for further details. Top # 0001 |
