Solo Exhibition by Gwen Conway
October 14 - November 1, 2006 About Eye Opener Eyes have always had a fascination in my work even going as far back as my school days. This exhibition has given me the focus to investigate this further using many types of animals as my subject matter. The works in this show are mainly oil paintings on canvas or board and pastels. As well as the Eye works on display there is also a collection of the more usual animal pictures for which Gwen is known. I have been working as an artist since 1996. From training at North Glasgow College, Cardonald College and Glasgow School of Art I have developed a knowledge in a wide range of media including painting, sculpture, stained glass art, murals, ceramics and illustrations. Since 1999 I have been specialising in animal artwork, working mainly in oils or pastels, producing freelance work as well as many commissioned pieces. This is my first solo exhibition. To date I have mainly sold my own work directly to the public at fairs around the country as well as limited shop/gallery outlets around the UK. My husband and I moved from Glasgow in May 2004 and we are now based in Innellan.
