Solo Exhibition by Ronnie Ford
November 4 - 22, 2006 Ronnie Ford returns to Gallimaufry Gallery with a new collection of Texturescapes in his unique style. This exhibition is inspired by Coastlines, Beaches, Shores and Riverbanks at home and abroad. Ronnie created his first textured painting when he was 17 years of age. His studies of sculpture and optical art at Glasgow School of Art encouraged him to experiment extensively with texture. It was his fascination with Asian art during this period which finally led to his decade spent in the Far East. There he began to explore the Chinese idea of taking a journey through the landscape, as well as sharpening his focus on capturing the spirit of nature, rather than slavishly representing it. The bas-relief effect of his canvases together with his vibrant use of colour go together to make his unique Texturescapes which partly compose this new exhibition, Along The Water's Edge.
