by Gordon Davidson
As someone who has admired Barack Obama for many years, I did this painting with a view to donating it to President Obama. However, this has proved to be an impossible task. Officials, diplomats and politicians I have so far contacted for guidance have all said, "It won't get to him." I am now looking for an art agent in Washington or New York to take my second version of this painting, sell it in a flood of publicity that might reach the White House - paving the way for my original painting to reach the Mr Obama. As is the case with all my artwork, a substantial proportion of profits from the sale of 'Obama On Rushmore' would go to my sponsor child in Peru - and if prints of this painting are produced, I would be happy to donate a portion of profits to UNICEF or to a charity of the President's choice. If this venture is of interest to you, please email me with your proposal. New Exhibition
About Gordon Davidson Since leaving Glasgow School of Art, Gordon Davidson has exhibited widely throughout Scotland and gained international recognition for his art work. Gordon's first solo exhibition was Space Kids which received national coverage on Reporting Scotland on BBC and Get Fresh on ITV. He had a solo exhibition of his drawings in Ohowa, Canada, and was chosen as one of ten artists to represent Scotland in an international exhibition in Denmark. Gordon is probably best known for his moody, atmosphereic paintings of the west coast of Scotland. He calls these, his Blue Mountains paintings. This style, using gouache paint, he now uses to capture landscapes from around the world. Gordon is also known for his film work. He has produced Pop videos, the Arran Walk films, and a series of documentaries called Artefact about contemporary Scottish artists. Durring his filming of Don McNeil and Jean Bell he became much influenced by their work and since then has spent time with them learning how to paint more expressive work. For many years Gordon has been fostering good relations with artists and crafts people around the world. A documentary crew followed him to Morocco and Peru in 2005 - 2006 to capture a year's work for his biggest exhibition to date - Around The World In 80 Pictures. This exhibition thrust him into a top league of Scottish artists ... with many officials and polititions from around the world attending. As a result of this venture, Gordon is now receiving extraordinary offers from all over the world including one of his paintings going to the King of Thailand. Gordon was awarded a highly commended award by the Stella Artois organisation for his contribution to the arts in Scotland.
