This showcase contains 6 images of paintings by Scottish artist Iona Leishman - Member of Glasgow Art Club, of Dunblane, Perthshire.
A riot of bluebells in a dappled May woodland. This was a specially commissioned painting, my largest ever, measuring 5' x 4'. In order to paint it I set up a woodland 'camp' over a three days.
Painted on a hot summer day, the gorge was so deeply wooded that over the hours I became chilled. Breathing in the gusts of scented, peaty water as it coursed down the glen I was moved by the thought of the many feet that had tramped this walkway over the centuries.
Heavy cherry blossom almost obscured the Gothic strength of Inverness Cathedral when I painted there last spring, the second of a two painting commission for the Provost.
The more I examined this huge female form, the more I admired it, loving the pink against the manganese blue tablecloth, the tulips in the glass vase and unmistakeable Clarice Cliff teapot.
New colour and growth on the hazel and willow, together with last season's dry teasles against the backdrop of a peaty pool caught my eye on a cold, bright March day.
