Around The World In 80 Pictures
Gordon Davidson is probably best known for his atmospheric and unique landscape paintings of Scotland, but this exhibition is inspired by his wanderlost which over the years has taken him to all four corners of the map.
This love of travelling has led to Gordon amassing a large body of work in the shape of paintings, drawing, sketches and photographs, the best of which have been hand-picked to feature in this new exhibition.
Around The World In 80 Pictures has taken 25 years to make and a year to put together. The exhibition features acrylics, watercolours and gouache paintings as well as finished drawings from sketch books.
Rather than creating paintings from 80 countries Gordon has grouped work from fifteen countries ... from Atlas to the Andes; from Mid-West America to Far East China; from the Gobi Desert to the Chitwan jungle.
Gordon has invited officials from all the countries represented to the opening on Saturday October 28 (12noon - 5pm) and would like to extend an invitatition to anyone from the countries involved. These countries include - China
- Denmark
- Germany
- Italy
- Malta
- Mongolia
- Morocco
- Nepal
- Netherlands
- Peru
- Poland
- Russia
- Scotland
- Thailand
- USA
Around The World In 80 Pictures will continue throughout November, 2006, and in March 2007 it will visit The Burnside Gallery in the Isle of Arran. Gordon's artwork fron Peru is also due to feature in another exhibition in the Peruvian Embassy in London next year.
A Documentry Film
For the past 18 months a Documentry team from Keeper Productions has been following the making of this exhibition, including Gordon's work in Peru and Morocco. The one hour film produced will be previewed at the opening of the exhibition at Seagull Gallery on Saturday October 28, 2006 12noon - 5pm. DVD copies of the Documentary will be available for sale at £15 each.
