Outside the Converted Barn

The renovated old granite farmhouse over looking the River Don has become Syllavethy Gallery

Syllavethy Gallery is a creatively converted barn in idyllic setting on the banks of the River Don, 40 minutes from Aberdeen Airport, Aberdeen city centre and Royal Deeside. It houses the largest permanent display of works in the West, by the Chinese American artist, Chen Yan Ning. Two other rooms have changing displays of painting and sculpture by other local and international artists.

And just to satisfy your curiosity, the word Syllavethy is said to be from old Gaelic, meaning 'the well-spring at the birch tree'... oh well
